Jon Disler | Nick Harwood | Scott Grandy | Jim Garner | Jonathan Johnson
Jon Disler, Acting Chief Pilot
As one of the senior certified instructors in Houston, Mr. Disler is a huge addition to the TCA staff, as well as the instructor for a number of other CFI’s in the U.S. Mr. Disler retired as an engineer from NASA after a career spanning from the Apollo 9 mission, to the Space Shuttle missions, and finally to the International Space Station. His certifications include:
- Commercial Pilot (‘CPL‘),
- Certified Flight Instructor (‘CFI‘),
- Certified Flight Instructor Instrument (‘CFII‘), and
- Certified Multi-Engine Instructor (‘MEI‘).
Nick Harwood, Director of Curriculum
Mr. Nick Harwood is a graduate of Northwestern Michigan College where he earned his commercial and flight instructor pilot certificates. He served as a flight instructor at Northwestern Michigan College before beginning his career in unmanned aircraft at BAE Systems, a leading defense contractor and manufacturer of four UAS platforms. He led flight operations including multiple deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan. Contracted with the Air Force in support of U.S. Special Operations Command (SOCOM), Nick was responsible for ensuring compliance with the Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) and Air Force safety for all personnel and operations.
He has logged over 1000 combat flight hours in a variety of unmanned aircraft. Nick has in depth practical experience in video and sensor payload technology, fixed wing and rotorcraft platforms, avionics and software. Nick is also co-founder of Aetos Group, a remote inspection company focused on using UAV and robotics for inspections in the Energy Industry. He provides cutting edge technological expertise and sustainability plans for remote NDT data gathering to leaders within, power, refining, and chemical processing facilities. His certifications include:
- CPL, CFI, CFII, and MEI.
Henry Scott Grandy
Mr. Henry Scott Grandy, better known as “Scott“, is a CFI focusing on ground training. His certifications include:
- CPL, CFI, CFII, MEI, and
- Advanced Ground Instructor (“AGI“)
James R. Gardner, of Texas Time Builders
With over 6,000 hours of flight time, James R. “Jim” Gardner brings a level of professionalism and experience which will benefit all aviators; Mr. Gardner will be focusing primarily on multi-engine training in Houston. Mr. Gardner holds licenses as a Certified Flight Instructor (‘CFI’), CFI Instrument (‘CFII’), Multi-Engine Instructor (‘MEI’) and an Airline Transport Pilot (‘ATP’):
- Airline Transport Pilot (‘ATP‘),
- CFI, CFII, and MEI
Jonathan Johnson, of Texas Time Builders
Mr. Jonathan Johnson is our newest addition to our primary flight instructors and has a full spectrum of certifications for instruction, including:
- CPL, CFI, CFII, and MEI.
